Asbestos, quartz and synthetic inorganic fibers are contained in fibrosis-causing dust. The health check follows Section 39-41 of the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on Medical checks at work (2019:3), with assessment for a certificate of service.
Asbestos, quartz and synthetic inorganic fibers is all fibrosis-causing dust and are included in the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on Medical Checks at Work (AFS 2019:3). In order for us to know which exposures that are involved, the health check-up shall be preceded by a risk assessment of the work environment.
Medical check-up – Asbestos
The medical check-up is aimed at employees with planned or ongoing exposure to asbestos and meets the legal requirement for asbestos (AFS 2006:1).
According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on Infectious Diseases (AFS 2018:4), a health check-up must take place before the person starts work and can be done up to three years before the work starts, thereafter, it shall be repeated every three years. The intervals can be shortened based on the medical assessment.
Medical check-up – Quartz
The control is aimed at persons with ongoing or planned exposure to quartz. It follows the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on Quartz - stone dust in the working environment (AFS 2015:2). It must take place before the person starts work and can be done up to three years before the start of work, thereafter, it shall be repeated every three years. The intervals can be shortened based on the medical assessment.
Medical check-up – Synthetic inorganic fibers
This statutory health check-up meets the legal requirement in accordance with the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation on Synthetic Inorganic Fibers (AFS 2004:1). The health check-up is aimed at people with ongoing or planned exposure to inorganic fibres.
The check-up must take place before the person starts work, thereafter, it shall be repeated every three years. The intervals can be shortened based on the medical assessment.
How it works
- Attach risk assessment
When you order the service, you attach the risk assessment of the workplace that shows which substances are exposed. When the position is ordered, your employee is booked for a health check. The time is communicated in an email to your co-worker and to you as the orderer. - Physical
In the case of exposure to asbestos and synthetic inorganic fibres, the medical check-up includes clinical examination of the respiratory and circulatory organs, as well as spirometry. Chest X-ray is done during the first check-up and then follows regulations according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations for Medical check-ups. In case of quartz exposure, the employee may perform a spirometry examination. - Certificate of service
A certificate for the employee is issued and sent to you as the orderer.
