Influenza vaccination 2026/2027
Seasonal influenza is usually mild, but it can make some people seriously ill. For employees in health and social care, vaccination is especially important. Whichever employees you as an employer want to offer influenza vaccination to, you can turn to Falck.
Seasonal influenza is an infection caused by influenza viruses and arrives in Sweden every year. It is most common during the winter months and spreads through coughing and sneezing or through close contact with someone who is ill. The symptoms often resemble a common cold, but influenza can cause more pronounced symptoms, such as fever, cough and body aches.
For most people the illness passes on its own, but for people in medical risk groups it can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia. You can read more about the medical risk groups at the Public Health Agency of Sweden.
Offer influenza vaccination at the workplace
As an employer, there are good reasons to offer influenza vaccination to reduce the spread of infection and lower the risk of sick leave during the winter months. Vaccination gives better protection against influenza, and if you still fall ill, the symptoms are usually milder. The vaccine protects against several different influenza viruses, as the viruses that circulate can vary from season to season.
It is particularly important for employees who work in health and social care and who meet people at increased risk of severe influenza. This applies, for example, to staff at special housing for older people and in home care services.
– Employers should first consider offering the vaccine to employees who work in health and social care, and secondly to other employees, says Torbjörn Vedberg, Medical Director at Falck.
We offer the Vaxigrip vaccine from Sanofi.
