Falck launches new e-learning on asbestos
Falck is now launching a new e-learning on asbestos in accordance with current legislation. The course is designed to provide employees and managers with the foundational knowledge required for those who may come into contact with asbestos in their profession.
Asbestos remains present in many buildings in Sweden and poses a serious health risk upon exposure. Working safely requires knowledge of where the material may be found, what risks it entails, and how to act to protect yourself and others.
With the new e-learning, Falck aims to make this knowledge more accessible.
– An e-learning is a great starting point for raising awareness. It is easy to complement with an on-site visit from an asbestos expert and to work on the safety culture on location, says Monica Green, occupational health and safety engineer at Falck.
Who should take an asbestos training course?
The course is a general training aimed at both employees and managers who may be exposed to asbestos-containing dust in their work. It is designed to meet the requirements of the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations AFS 2023:13.
Course content
The goal is to provide participants with the knowledge to work safely and minimise the risks of exposure.
- Basic facts: What asbestos is and its properties.
- Health risks: Effects and diseases associated with asbestos exposure.
- Identification and response (practical exercise): How to recognise asbestos-containing materials and act in high-risk situations.
- Protection and safety: Correct use of protective equipment and preventive safety procedures.
- Legislation: Current laws, regulations, and requirements for medical monitoring.
The course concludes with a knowledge test. Upon a passing result, the participant receives a personal training certificate in PDF format as proof of completed training.
Additional training options
The course is also available as an instructor-led training, either on-site at your premises or online.
We can also offer training at all competency levels for organisations that work with, for example, the processing, demolition, or remediation of asbestos-containing materials.
